The Xerox WorkCentre 6515 DNI is on heck of a printer! That is until you try to set it up for all your functions. Out of the box it’s beautiful, well designed, and heavy. Depending on your setup and what you actually want to use it for, it can be very easy or very, very, very difficult.
I first set it up, plugged in a USB cable, followed the directions, installed the software — bam! I was printing to my hearts content. Color is impressive, etc, etc, blah, blah, blah.
I then tried to set it up with my network via the WiFi. The pain began. Setting this up through the control panel on the panel is a pain and painfully slow. I tried and tried to set it up and finally had to settle on the WiFi button process. No huge deal in and of itself but I shouldn’t have had to stumble around to find that work around. So now I have it printing via USB and WiFi, Great! Right? Well not really.
The literature on line tells you that it is best to have the printer hooked to your network via an Ethernet cable to your router so that you can then share it with other computers. Okay, no big deal! I plug in the Ethernet cable and unplug the USB port and now the nightmares begin. Waking the printer up to actually print becomes a problem. Getting the printer to work with dynamically assigned IP addresses is a problem. I spent several days working out these bugs.
In that process I became very familiar with having to log in via the computer to the printers IP address to get to its control panel via the internet in order to go through a lot of settings and set up issues. Even at this point I have still not gotten the fax to work properly at all. Along the way to get the scanner to work, after many tries to get it to scan to a folder on my computer. I called tech support, only to find out, that A. I must set up a log-in to my computer; and B. I must also set up a log-in to the printer. What a freaking pain in the rump for a family computer. Now my children have to log-in via “1234.”

Had problems with this machine right out of the box. It took me about 6 hours to finally get this printer to print from a desktop computer directly in the same network. Printing from an android (phone or tablet) or with google cloud print caused the print to restart repeatedly (forever) until I just unplugged the printer. I tried about 6 different times. The cloud printed document never prints. My other cloud printing printers all work fine. Xerox support told me to contact google as this had something to do with them. No other help from Xerox support. Nothing in on-line support about this problem either. I am returning. Not recommended. 2 -starts as you can at lease print from a desktop computer. Congrats Xerox.
