10 high-grade non-rewritable BD-R discs with rapid-dry ink absorption for clear text and high quality images

Top Positive Review

I was recently reminded by a friend that a RAID is not a backup. Fortunately my RAID is only used for old stuff, it??s more of an archive. But if it were ever to fail, I??d be devastated.

So what??s the best way to archive 4TB of data? I could build a second RAID… or maybe but an SSD or two…. or finally put that BluRay burner I bought five years ago to good use…. I chose the latter.

So 39, 100GB quad layer BD-R discs from Verbatim should do the trick. And do the trick it did. Not a single bad disc in the bunch. On average all discs burned at about 5x speed and took an average of an hour and a half to burn each disc.

Now I have an archive to last me at least fifty years. True, anything I add to my RAID from here on out won??t be part of that backup, but many next time I??ll use some BD-RE discs so I can reuse them over and over again. It just sucks that there aren??t any BD-RE 100GB discs I can get.

These are very expensive and the white matte printable finish doesn’t print colors well, reds turn to browns and images tend to bleed together.

Never had an issue burning the discs with IMGBurn but disc’s aren’t recognizable in 4K players, i.e., Samsung UHD K8500, didn’t try them in my OPPO. Even in a PC they are questionable. I’ve tried these with formats M2TS and MKV’s without much luck.

I’ve thrown away 20 qty disc’s that I thought would be fine since there were no errors burning and have 20 qty sitting new that are now worthless to me. That’s over two hundred green backs wasted on this trash.

Without going to M-Discs there is no other choice at this capacity, what a shame.

Why bother to invent a 100gb disc format, but make it unplayable in a Blue-Ray player and incapable of being viewed on a tv?
Answer: This product is compatible with BD-XL players and burners only and has twice the storage capacity of BD-DL or four times the storage capacity of standard BD discs.

Answer: I’m not sure about this model, but this media require BD XL, it’s a new burners

At What speed can you write these with no failure of the burning?
Answer: I have generally used 18x, although my recorder can handle 24x. I have not had problems at higher speeds, but I play it safe. If a few extra seconds/minutes prevents making a coaster…
