2x Toslink (SPDIF) Male connectors

Top Positive Review

Thin cable like this is SO much easier to run and manage. Shielding is absolutely unnecessary for an optical signal. Thicker coating on optical cables is PADDING [so you don’t easily BREAK the cable], not shielding. So unless you’re running it across a floor, THIN is the way to go.

I??ve had star tech products in the past and have had good experiences with them. So I decided to get this cable assuming that it??s better quality than most. When I got my devices connected, No sound came out of my Sony receiver using this optical cable. My old optical cable works better than this one. I need one that is about 20ft So I can no longer use my old OC.

Also, please note that this doesn??t lock in like most optical cable. I thought my receiver stopped working and tried configuring the settings for both my receiver and the TV, then, I tried my old Optical cable and worked just fine. I just wasted my time troubleshooting an issue that is purely isolated to this cable.
This has tons of good reviews so idk if I may have received a defective item. I will not be ordering or get replacement since I dont like how this cable doesn??t lock in like most do.
Also, I don??t like how thick this cable is. It??s almost as thick as your standard coax cable.
I don??t recommend this product at all.

Customer Questions & Answers

Does this cable connect digital optical audio out on a T.V. to auxillary or headphone port?
Answer: No, this will not convert a digital optical signal into an analog electrical signal. To do what you’re asking, you need something like this: http://www.amazon.com/D3-Digital-Converter-Optical-Toslink/dp/B005K2TXMO

will this work for a soundbar to connect to a TV
Answer: Only if your soundbar has a optical input.

is this for digital coaxial output on tv to an optical input on the receiver?
Answer: both ends should be the same you’re looking for both side to be mini. the long side is like plugging into a ear phone plug

Will I be able to connect my PS3 to my PC with this cable and obtain audio from a usb headset?
Answer: That depends on your pcs soundcard. It has to have a toslink/rf port. The Mac mini comes standard with it and some aftermarket sound cards have one as well, but a standard line in jack will not work.

how long is the base? Needs to fit in Sonos Sound bar which has an inch of clearance between the plug and base of unit.
Answer: My Sonos bar came with a Toslink cable. I believe that Toslink cable ends are standard. Since I am currently away from home can’t be absolutely sure. If you are near a Best Buy, you might want to check with a Toslink cable, as they also have Sonos on display.

Will this help me connect my PS4 (toslink) to my soundbar (digital coaxial)?
Answer: This is for toslink optical digital in both ends coaxial digital uses an different plug

Can you please tell me the measurement of the part that protrudes out of the device after it??s plugged in, before the wire starts??
