Top Positive Review

We purchased these radios to work in farm machinery along with the Two-Wire Surveillance Mic for Motorola CP200 Empire. The radios have worked well and we’ve had no difficulty transmitting from inside the cab of one tractor over rough terrain to another operator inside the cab of another tractor 1/2 a mile a way. The radios seem well built and have held a charge for 8 hrs at a time. The only difficulty we’ve had is that one of the pins for the microphones that we plug in so we can hear from the earphone seems a bit loose which causes static. A rubber band around the radio and the microphone pin solved the problem but I’m not sure if the difficulty is with the radio or the pin from the mic.

Top Critical Review

I got this walkie for work and I’m not usually disappointed with a product but this walkie wouldn’t connect to a frequency or code and I don’t know if it was just the walkie I have but I was disappointed that almost 200 dollars went down the drain

Customer Questions & Answers

Does the rmu2040 require an fcc license? there is a review that has contrary information to the posting and i want to confirm this.
Answer: The RMU2080 DOES REQUIRE an FCC License for use. We typically recommend using either the DLR1020/DLR1060 or the DTR600/DTR700 radios which do not require an FCC License.

What is the range for this radio?
Answer:

Range is a tricky subject. There is stated range by the manufacturer, and then there is the realistic range of the radio which we call consistent range. The RMM2050 is a 2 Watt MURS radio, and operates on VHF frequencies. It does not do well indoors like a UHF radio would, but outdoors will travel 1 mile pretty consist??

as per the description it says it has: Advanced Voice Activation (VOX) – Enables hands-free operation is this not the case?
Answer: Chris, Thank you for your message! It is the case, the feature has to be programmed into the radio. It is a simple procedure that we can walk you through when you have the radios on hand. Please let me know if you have any other questions.
-Benny

I only see one knob which I assume is off/on. It says 5 frequencies. Is there a knob to change frequencies?
Answer: No knob it’s on the side of radio there is 2 buttons it’s the bottom one keep pressing it to change channels lady voice will tell you witch channel you are on
