This is a review of the Memorex 4.7 GB 16X DVD+R (100 Pack)

This is a short review as this is a simple product. I have used many different burning medias in the past and so far I have come to learn Memorex has been my best performing and reasonably priced option. I can honestly not recall the last time I had a dvd burn fail or issues with any of the data – video files I burned to these disks.

This is a 100 pack of the Memorex 4.7GB 16x DVD + R.
(I use max speed recording and have no issues at all.)

I also like using these as the top of the disks have areas for you to label the discs. (I use a black sharpy marker.)

Just to give you a quick idea of how much data these hold.

CD = 800MB
DVD = 4.7GB (4,700 mb)

Music mp3s are approx 5mb
Photos are typically 3-5mb or 10-20mb if on a DSLR camera.

Top Critical Review

I would have preferred to give this item 0 stars but that isn’t possible, for certainly it deserves it. Fully 11 discs from the top down out of 32 which I have used or “tried” to use have not worked at all. Not in a desk top, not in a laptop, and not in a freestanding VHS to DVD recorder which I use to transfer relatives’ and customers’ home movies to DVDs. If they had failed in only one machine, I would have blamed that machine, if all had failed, I would have guessed the technology changed, but no, some work, sometimes, in some machines, so obviously many of the discs are just lemons. And how do I return the product? I had already opened the package, thrown away the shipping carton, and had used and GIVEN away to my relatives 4 discs, before I realized so many were useless. Will not purchase these again!

I’ve purchased this product on the spindle from different sellers on amazon, but i never actually get the 100 with the spindle. who sells the spindle?

Does this dvd has slim jewel case? picture shows slim jewel case.
Answer: The one that is in the picture is actually a 5 pack, which is incorrect. This listing is for a 10 pack with paper sleeves, no jewel cases.

what color is the disc top surface can you print on the disc?
Answer: It is the usual Silver/grey (shining) color with Memorex DVD + R written on it. I will say that you cannot print directly on it since it is not usual printable matt finish surface

What does the top look like? is there writing or something that would show through a label? are these playable on computer and dvd players?

The top is a hazy white with generic disc information on them. Yes these DVD+R discs are “printable”. The writing will not show through. For playing on computer and DVD players ensure that the format is readable by both devices. Generally, a computer will burn a disc with a format that is readable by both the computer??
