This LG is about the least expensive DVD burner you can get. But don’t let the price fool you. I have owned more expensive burners over the years, and they’re no better. LG is a global leader in electronics manufacturing. HP, Dell, and most of the other big name manufacturers do not “make” their own components. They don’t even assemble their own systems. You’re paying for a name and logo. Who knows who they’ve contracted with for the parts. About the only thing you can count on is it’s the lowest bidder from China. In this case, LG IS the manufacturer. This is a quality burner that will do everything any other burner can do, except burn a label. It’s just as fast, will last just as long… scratch that… will last longer. Remember, this is not a lowest Chinese bidder model. You won’t find a better burner.

Amazon informs me that I bought this drive on July 30, 2018. I’m writing this review on October 14, 2018, because the drive has been intermittently appearing and disappearing on my computer, which isn’t supposed to happen.

What’s also not supposed to happen: about four days ago, my computer suddenly began stuttering, freezing up and loading mouse commands very, very slowly. Since it was getting worse and worse, I finally decided to do a clean reinstall of the computer. Twice. It didn’t help. Finally, in desperation, I opened the computer up and unplugged the LG Electronics Internal Super Multi Drive Optical Drives GH24NSC0B from the motherboard, with the idea of unplugging my PCI Wifi Card next, if I didn’t get results.

I did get results: the computer has been running smooth as butter since I unplugged this drive.

To say I’m really disappointed in this product would be highly accurate. I don’t need an optical drive often, but I don’t expect it to make my computer unusable, either.

Obviously, and despite all the other great reviews, I don’t think this drive is one you want to use–but if you do, and you start having similar issues, try unplugging it FIRST.
