This player replaces two different Samsung Blu-Ray players in a row. The biggest problem I had with both of those was that Samsung has this pesky touch-sensitive disc drawer. I don’t know why that is. My best guess was it provided a way for the user to close the drawer without the remote–just give it a nudge and she shuts right up. I’ve owned comps which had that feature on the ROM drawer. But one serious drawback of the ones on my old Samsungs was they had a nasty habit of closing up on you if you touched the drawer at all, even to remove your DVD. That ended up damaging several DVDs of mine when the drawer “bit” them. So when the second Samsung gave out, I decided when I logged onto here; “Anything but a Samsung”. This LG machine fortunately does not have the “nudge feature” and I can take out my DVD a lot more safely. One thing I found alarming was a really white screen on my TV after I ejected the DVD. Fortunately it doesn’t take too long for the screen saver with its black screen and dancing LG logo to kick in. I was afraid too much of a glaring white screen would damage my TV and I’d get “print-through” issues. One thing I also like is that turning this player on doesn’t automatically switch my TV to that input. What it does instead is it tells the input select screen on my TV what’s plugged into that jack. A drawback that still defeats me is the streaming feature. No LAN or Ethernet port–you have to connect it to your router wirelessly by WiFi. And when I enter my security key, this player next asks me for a password. I don’t HAVE a password on my WiFi–just the network name and the security key. I thought that was my password. So as far as I know, I can’t use the streaming feature on this player. Oh well, I already have a Roku dongle for streaming and there are enough HDMI ports on my TV for all three–my DVR, the Roku and this player.

Top Critical Review

This review may come across as superficial but if I’m paying over a hundred dollars for a product then I certainly have earned a right to complain. The display is atrocious and cheap. This thing made me feel like I was watching
an old DVD player from the early 200s. Cheap text, ugly gray backdrop and a park/amusement park backdrop that belongs as a screensaver from several decades back. How can LG represent crap like this? Is this because they assume anyone still using a BluRay/DVD player is some old codger who will accept junk? Guess again pal. This is going right back in the box and returned to you mere hours after Amazon dropped it off.
