I’ve just come across a bunch of newbies claiming “cables don’t make a difference to your sound anyway”… well, they need to compare one of these to a good, high-quality cable, and then they’ll stop repeating their nonsense and start singing the praises of high-quality cables.

Honest to goodness, these have got to be the dullest sounding cables I have ever played through. No sparkle on the top end at all. They even roll off the bass. Everything I tried playing sounded dull and lifeless through them. I plugged my old 20′ cable back in, and OMG… the clarity was back, the bass was nice and deep, every nuance came through.

Having noticed a couple people actually remarked how they thought these sounded clear and transparent, I thought perhaps a bit of break-in time might be needed, so I left the amp turned on and the guitar plugged in, but I’m not as patient as I was when I was younger, and after about 4 hours I tried it again, and it was just the same – dull and lifeless, nothing of the nuances of how I subtly touch or bend the strings came through, none of the upper partials that I rely on to hear all of the subtle nuances when I’m playing blues, classic rock leads, or just improvising were coming through at all. So, once more I plugged my old cord back in and BAM! it was all back.

I just sat there shaking my head… they claim “clarity”, “enhanced signal transmission”, and “hi-fi sound”, none of which these have… and a couple of reviewers actually claimed these were the best cables they ever heard… makes no sense at all… put these back in the box, and sent them back… worst cable I ever played in all of my 45+ years of playing.

Answer: I believe you can use the straight end in the instrument and the ??L?? in the input port on your audio mixer/DI box/etc if there is an issue with a given instrument – gives you the option otherwise
