So bought a new Samsung 75″ QLED TV to replace the disappointing (and very expensive) OLED 65″ LG. Connected the 2 yr old sound bar that we had with the same “thin” optical audio cable from the LG to the new Samsung. Something was wrong – had to turn sound up to almost 90% no matter the settings – to hear things thru Apple TV box or thru TV app for NetFLIX. Intelligent friend said, “you know maybe you want to replace the audio cable with what I bought just to try”. SO she ordered me this cable that she had from Syncwire. First off you can see a HELL of a difference in the end/connectors, thickness in the cable which will not bend and harm the internal cable – and most importantly – WOW ON THE SOUND. So now I have the sound bar/Volume back down to 12-14 for cable TV channels and 20-27 for Apple TV and maybe around 30-35 on Netflix streaming thru TV App – ALL out of a limit of 100 on the sound bar. And the sound is a HELL of a lot better. GO FOR IT.

If you hook the optical cable from the back of the smart tv to the optical jack on the reciever will the sound now come thru my speakers?
Answer: Yes, but you will have to change the audio output on your TV and the receiver.
