14 playable characters and 23 assist characters including playable bosses Akira Yuki from Virtual Fighter and Selvaria Bless from Valkyrie Chronicles

Top Positive Review

I preordered this game when it was announced that it was going to be released here in the West. This game is licensed by Sega but the game is mostly focused on characters from light novels series. There 14 playable characters and 23 support characters. You can choose characters from Sword Art Online to Durarara! to Accel World. This game reminds me of J-Stars Victory Vs+; however, the game is not a 3D free-form fighting but a traditional 2-dimensional fighting game. The game is very easy people to jump in and fight and the AI can either be a punching bag or a tough opponent. The game also includes Sega themed stages, Sonic’s Green Hill Zone and NiGHTS stages. The arcade plays like a story mode for each of the playable characters and the Japanese voice actors returns for this game.

In the preorder description, it mentioned that it comes with a bonus edition soundtrack. I was expecting a collection of the game’s song or even the main theme song “Belief”. Unfortunately the CD comes with 6 songs. Another thing I was disappointed when adding the songs in my ipod, was that they were all combined into one whole song; you can not listen to them separately. Here is what the bonus CD includes and the time length:

Fighting Climax Instrumental (Opening Song)- 0:00-0:36
Envoy of Hope (Character Select)- 0:37-1:44
Ruin and Salvation (Valkyria Chronicle Stage Daytime ver.)- 1:45-3:46
Abyss (Shinobi Stage)- 3:47-5:41
Higher Higher (NiGHTS Stage)- 5:42-7:17
Seaside B-Field (Sonic the Hedgehog Stage)- 7:18-9:43

Overall, this game is really fun for players who fighting games and watches anime or read the light novels. I highly recommend it if you want to play as your favorite characters. The preorder gift was very disappointing and you might as well just get this game without the CD and just save up for the official game soundtrack that includes all the songs.

Top Critical Review

It might not be no King of Fighters or Blazblue with the character roster feeling a bit lacking, but normally we wouldn’t get these games in the states, so it’s nice to see some love from Sega. The story itself is alright at best, but I did have fun with this, having the chance to play as characters from Railgun, Black Bullet, and The Irregular at Magic High. I’m not sure why fighters like these need to have support characters, I rather them be actual characters, if Sega ever does make a sequel for this I would like to see how they improve on it, it’s a nice buy, but some of the characters I was hoping to play as were just regulated to Support roles, have to see if anything changes in the future.
