Ok, I’ve had this product already for 2 years and all I can say is that it’s durable as hell! I’m using it for my next door neighbor who has fiber and well wanted to share it with me, so the cable is exposed to constant sun light, water, etc…. I live in Puerto Rico. The most amazing thing about this is that the cable withstood 2 CATEGORY 5 HURRICANES(Hurricane Maria and Hurricane Irma) !!! without taking damage (the cable is literally hanging from my roof to his roof). So if you want a good durable cable this is the one you should choose.

I bought two of Cable Matters Cat6 Ethernet Cable 75ft each and the Cable Matters Active USB 3.0 Extension 32ft, I needed them for a theatre show to transmit video signal. I’ve tested the 75 ft Cat6 Ethernet Cable with my HDMI transmitter, the signal was lagging and consistently transmitting about 3-5 frames per second. I’ve swapped to another 100 ft Cat 5e that the theatre had for backup, the video signal was smooth and clear.

I also tested the USB 3.0 extension with regular Logitech usb camera, the frame rate was also really low, about 3-5 frames per second. I had to borrow another extension and the signal became smooth and normal again.

After these 2 testings, my conclusion is that Cable Matter’s cable quality definitely has some issues. It was a waste of my money and my time. It also wasted some of the tech time that I had in the theatre trying to trouble shoot this and finding backup solutions.

I recorded some video of me testing both the Cable Matter’s cable and another brand and show that Cable Matter’s quality has some clear problems while another brand does the job.

Now that I have these 3 cables are pretty much useless for me. I’ve send them back for return. It wasted quite a bit of my time, so I just wanted to share with y’all here, be aware of this brand’s cable, at least if you’re looking to do video transmission!

Customer Questions & Answers

Would I be able to run this next to a hot radiator pipe for about 12 feet without damaging the cable?

That depends on the heating method. If you’re referring to hydronic radiators with circulating water, then they top out at around 180F under worst-case conditions. Even with a small air gap, the cable will heat up a lot, increasing it’s resistance (signal attenuation). If it’s a short cable run then you’ll probably be ??

Can I run this cable on the outside of my house?
Answer: It’s not rated for outdoor installation.

I need 30′. Will it affect performance to install 50′ and tuck the extra into the wall, OR, would it be more effective to custom cut?
Answer: 50 feet won’t affect performnce; but rolloing up the extra in the wall is sloppy. I would buy bulk cable, fish through the wall, cut to length leaving a little extra for slack, install jacks, and use short jumpers at each end to get to my equipment. That’s a much more professional and flexible solution.
