Since Apple makes this, they know you need it. The MacBook power bricks are so heavy that they barely stay plugged into the wall outlet or power strips.
Replacing the stock plug is trivial and gives you peace of mind that your power brick won’t disconnect inadvertently.
Typical apple cord quality. It’s a power cord so it should last longer than phone charging cords. I have Mac power cables that are over 10 years old with no sign of wear. I don’t expect this to be any different in that respect.

Do not buy this cable. This cable is announced as a genuine apple cable, in new condition, but upon receiving this cable it came in a common plastic bag, and in very bad conditions with very clear evidence of previous use. Very angry and disappointed by this purchase, they have a false sales advertisement. Photo attached.
